Is it possible to make money using Blender 3D?

I started learning 3D graphics as a hobby using Blender.
There are several reasons why Blender is very small, understandable, convenient, fast, open, free, support and development.
The question is: is it possible to earn money on freelance using this editor later? Naturally, if you get into full 3D, explore the concepts, styles, base and foundation.
As far as it is noticeable in publications in the networks, 3DS Max, Maya, and other specialized tools are most in demand. They are used both in the film industry and in advertising and in design and in television ....
But Blender also has something to answer, enough films have been made on it, for example, one of the spider-men .... not to mention that very thick and a fluffy rabbit walking in the forest.
Is it possible to achieve good success and, most importantly, financial reward for the result using Blender? Or is this editor not so strong? And it makes no sense to freelance on it?

Despite the fact that the customer does not care what the models are made on, nevertheless, look at the requirements in the freelance exchanges. Max is in the lead there, for animation and more complex tasks - this is maya in addition to zbrush and other tools, additions.
In the 3d world, everything is exactly the same as in programming. There is a task, it needs to be solved with a set of tools.
Yes, you can convince the customer that you will do the task completely according to the TOR, but in a different tool. Only firstly, few customers want to deal with those who work in another tool. The customer is sure for some reason that it would be better to wear a maxi or a T-shirt - and creates his own requirements.
Secondly, how will you translate the format of heavy models into the one that the customer needs? After all, he doesn’t just need a model, he needs to insert it somewhere, integrate it with something, perhaps add animation, and your model will not contain the necessary skeleton, its movements will be limited.
You can earn, really, with any tool. But if you want to grow and earn more every year, you will have to develop your skills and adjust your skills to the requirements of the employer.
In most cases, this is max, maya, and so on. Everything that is difficult to put and everything that is more difficult to work with. And they work for a reason.
What is your problem with learning immediately what you can earn, what is in demand?
Put the student version of the official latest 2015 max and 2016 maya. And work in them.
Learn to work efficiently in complex tasks right away. Blender is good for learning, but not for serious work.
In short: no, you cannot achieve success and financial rewards for working in a blender. This editor is limited and there is practically no demand for freelancing.
Just like in programming you can’t know one PL, you need to know a bunch of everything in order to earn and develop.

Making money is real.
Here, rather, it is important what you want to do. Architectural visualization, cinema, advertising, games on demand differ quite a lot.
If you work alone, then you can render interiors, make a commercial or assets for the game in your favorite Blender. Making models/videos for sale is no problem at all.
If you want a movie, then it’s a bit more complicated, because several people can work on each shot (plan). But even in cinema, simple 3D is often required. Complex shots, for which Blender may not be enough, as a rule, are not given to freelance.
If you work in a studio where they work in Max / Mike / Cinema, then learning the buttons is a couple of weeks. Plus, there will always be people nearby who will tell you where to poke. And the basic knowledge of how to work with three-dimensional, Blender gives easily. Blender also has a huge plus - it is always licensed. Those. you can come to work in the studio and say - I don't know how to do it in Max/Mike/Cinema, but I know how to do it in Blender. Install Blender and run. With other packages, this may not work.

I don’t do graphics myself, but in thematic groups I read opinions that the customer doesn’t care what the same models are made on. obj + textures and that's it.

Certainly!
Blender exports well to popular formats. The software used affects the success of freelancing in the 99th place. First of all, your diligence and relevance of the service.

If you have taste and talent, then you may well try to work on freelance exchanges and exchanges of 3d models, like this one: 3docean.net

An 11-year-old girl makes money with dice by inventing passwords for people. This I mean that you can earn money using any tools, if they fit the task.
Blender is suitable for most tasks, but for some it is simply not enough. That's all. In general, it is not difficult to relearn from blender to 3Ds MAX, since the latter includes everything that is in blender, and the principles of building models, lighting settings, etc. they have the same with more.
