How does odesk filter freelancers?
Hello. Recently I was pleasantly surprised that I am in a very pleasant place under the tag of one popular framework.
And I don't understand why? I have 30 hours, and 20 of them are $5/hour, while I did my first job on Odessa.
Then the rates went much higher, and now I see that I am in first place. Although I have only 1 project in my portfolio.
Are they crazy there? Or is it trolling new freelancers?
Or do they have floating positions, then you are in 1st place, then you are in 40th place, and change weekly?

I also discovered here that I am in an "unpleasant" place for the target queries I need. More precisely, I did not find myself at all according to the necessary criteria. And before was on 1-2 place.
As for the weekly: lately I have been monitoring a couple of requests I need every day, some freelancers remain in the top ten, some fly away. I mean, every day is different.
In general, it happened to me like this: in February I was in 1-2 place (there were a lot of offers), then I didn’t work for Odesk for 4 months (I worked for Elance). Accordingly, during the time of inactivity, the profile "fell" down.
Then a couple of weeks ago I changed the status to "available" and immediately jumped to the 2nd line.
Then I decided to "play around" with the hourly rates (increased by 25%) and completely rewrote the profile description. The latter, probably, rolled my positions down somewhere. But, if clients find me, then they are very high quality (without any spam for $ 5)
My advice: take advantage of the situation. I don’t know what your rate is now, I advise you to sharply increase and take the project at a good rate ($30-40 per hour). True, it is worth disabling the display of financial information so that the project with a rate of $ 5 / hour does not shine.
