Is it possible to install win 7 on a win 8 license?

The laptop comes with windows 8.1 preinstalled. Is it possible to install windows 7 from a flash drive while retaining the license? There is a pre-installed win in the bios, but it does not say which version.

If win8 is honest, then you can clarify this issue with M$. In some cases, the license includes all previous versions of the OS, in others it does not. If the license was bought for a physicist, then most likely not, if for a lawyer, then perhaps yes, depending on how the license was acquired.
