Is it possible to get server response in .htaccess?

There is a redirect to the current page, but with / at the end and there is a 404 page
Now the redirect to the page with / works first, and then 404
Is it possible to somehow get a response from the server in advance in .htaccess, so that the redirect to / goes last , but the 404 response was received first?
