Is it possible to get a job in a game development company as a coder?

The other day a question arose and I, without hesitation and without wasting time and effort on Google, immediately thought to "voice" it here - so a person with the same question will find the answer faster.
So: I'm a coder, a frontender - whatever you want. I like some games. And I thought how great it would be to work on their development or on the development of similar games. It's so nice to work on something that brings people, that has some benefit and brings joy to many people, and first of all to myself.
So the question itself is: is there at least some opportunity to grow from a workbench into a game developer, or can you just get at least some position (not a cleaner, of course, etc.)? What needs to be done, studied, practiced?

Well, the opportunity is about the same as "grow" from a honey brother to a judge.

No.
It is necessary to study the basics of game development, the engine, the programming language, and create several self-written games.

Well, janitors become programmers, after all, the front is weakly connected with the skills used in game development
