Is it possible to explicitly set a user ID to be tracked in Google Analytics?
Hello.
The task is to track the chain of user actions and count the conversion.
The problem is that some events do not occur in the context of the user's session (in our admin panel). But Google Analytics tracks users by their internal identifiers (cookies). Accordingly, we need a way to explicitly pass the user context (identifier) to the Google Analytics script.
Is there such a way?
PS customVariables only allow you to add additional information to the action, but do not allow you to influence the user's context.

no
, the terms of service explicitly state this.
If you need to track events, use developers.google.com/analytics/devguides/collection/gajs/eventTrackerGuide
Maybe in the terms of use it is directly stated, but technically it is possible. Hidden in the __utma cookie is a "Random Unique ID" that can be passed to Custom Variables. Next, see how a particular visitor behaves in reports using advanced segments in combination with custom variables.
There is such a possibility.
Or you use ClientID - an identifier that GA generates. Or you yourself generate unique UserIDs and pass them to GA. See https://developers.google.com/analytics/devguides/...
