Is it possible to encrypt GPT disks in AHCI with W.10 on board using Veracrypt 1.19 so as not to break anything?
Since buying Asus K501-UX with i7, about a year ago, I became interested in several areas related to IT, among them: information security. Initially, a 256GB Micron base disk was installed. I bought Hyper-X for 240GB, a GPT disk. I found useful information on the toaster and converted both disks to GPT, and put AHCI in the BIOS. This laptop only supports W.10. Put the system on hyper-x. The question arose with encryption and backups of the system, Habr suggested Veracrypt. GPT only supports Acronis trueimage. I'm just learning everything, so these 2 things are critically important for me. I read the English manual Veracrypt 1.19 and seemed to understand, but I don’t want to make mistakes. Plus, Europe. The order is as follows:
In both cases, I use a serpent-twofish cascade with a Russian 512bit hashing algorithm.
1. I encrypt a non-system disk, where is the partition for data and backups (will there be a problem with them?).
2. I know the password (do I create a recovery disk image? Or is it only for the system disk?)
3. I encrypt the system disk, I make an image of the recovery disk on a USB flash drive (in case the system does not boot, as I understand it), the system is encrypted. {this is a Hyper-X disk, it is divided into 3 partitions: system, VM, for pastime}.
4. I adjust, I decrypt both disks, I make a full backup. (Will I be able to use it at all?)
Bonus: 5. Veracrypt volumes + cloud (how is it done to properly store files there? + is it hard to set up? + will it be hard for a beginner to master?)
Please help me figure it out!
P.S. I read the manual, flipped through the Internet, watched the video on YouTube - I did not find what I was looking for.
