Is it possible to do digital drawing without a graphics tablet (yet)?

I do 3d modeling. I decided that it would be nice to improve my drawing skills. I'm not even bad at drawing on paper, but still, I would like to learn digital drawing. Only at the beginning of the year I temporarily moved to Tajikistan, and due to quarantine, I was stuck here for more than half a year. Given the demand for graphics tablets here, you can only find them with the support of Jesus (we are not on the best of terms). So I want to know if it is possible to develop in this business with a mouse, until I can still buy a tablet.

You can.
Source: at one of the works, the designer was sitting at a PC, an office monitor and drawing with a mouse. At another job at a higher level, there was already a designer with a tablet and a pontoon monitor with a higher salary than the previous one. And finally, in the enterprise, there were designers behind Macs with tablets the size of a tabletop with a salary almost catching up with mine at that time.

I'll tell you my recipe, how I managed before I bought a graphics tablet. I drew all the illustrations on paper, without coloring, only the outlines. Then I took a picture on my smartphone and threw it into illustrator. In illustrator, I outlined all the contours with vectors, and then applied brush styles. Coloring was already easier with the mouse. In addition, there is a gradient mesh, plus some textures I threw in before processing them in Photoshop. It turned out in its own way of course stylized, but the main task was completed. I will not say that the graphics tablet directly accelerated my work. On the contrary, the temptation was always to redraw the contour again, to get confused once again. And so I had to carefully plan my work.

possible, but inconvenient, and this is more for illustrations and not drawing. after several years of torment with the mouse, I moved to the tablet so it became easier to breathe straight. it's like going from heavy boots to light sneakers in the spring. you don't walk, you fly

It’s better to buy a graphics tablet right away, even if it’s cheap - it can’t be compared to drawing with a mouse.
I recommend XP-Pen tablets , they have very reasonable prices and good quality. You can order at the lowest price through their online store on Aliexpress .
