Is it possible to delete the Visual Studio 2017 cache at C:\ProgramData\Microsoft\VisualStudio\Packages?

Can you please tell me if it is possible to delete the entire VS cache at C:\ProgramData\Microsoft\VisualStudio\Packages? I understand it is not needed and is not used anywhere? And it takes as much as 8GB.

Yes, you can. You can disable it altogether .

After deleting this folder, the Visual Studio installer "lost" all installed versions.
