Is it possible to change the MediaPlayer sources, compile them and use them as a library in an Android project?

Good afternoon.
I work with sound in Android, I'm almost completely satisfied with the native MediaPlayer, but I need to slightly tweak the sources of the native MediaPlayer.
Is it possible to change the sources of MediaPlayer (plus leave only the mp3 decoder, other codecs are not needed), compile it and include it in my project as a library?
Is it possible to do this or does it take a lot of effort?
ffmpeg is too resource intensive.
Thanks for the answer.

Sorry for offtopic. Now I work just with ffmpeg with one mp3 decoder - encoder (LAME) what is its resource requirement? It's just, maybe I haven't stumbled upon the rock you hit yet? In general, except as codec + openSL ES, in your case it doesn’t come to mind.
