Is it possible to become a PM without experience as an IT specialist? And are there courses for PM that give 100% information??

I want to change direction. I have the lion's share of experience in sales, and less in 3d modeling, UI / UX; in general - in design. Is it possible to become a Project manager with no experience in this, or PM - only on the career ladder. Basically, I don't know where to start. Courses for PM are plentiful, but whether they guarantee quality and employment is a question.

What is a PM job?
Most often it is: knowledge of the subject area (construction, ecom, cosmetics, medicine, whatever), communication with people, understanding of business, and knowledge of project and people management methods. If you are a PM in development, then it is necessary to understand the development base, it is not necessary to be able to program.
Indeed, no one will give guarantees, it is best to start by understanding general things, and gaining experience, then go to interviews for junior positions in order to better understand the requirements of the market.
Knowledge by itself is useless. If you work somewhere, try to take on the extra work of running the project, or help someone manage it. This can then be added to the resume. The main thing is to get results.
If you have money, you can buy a course from large online platforms (skillbox, netology, geekbrains), but if you have motivation and time, you can study it yourself.
Courses:

  • Free and short course on the basics of the profession from PMClub: https://pmclub.pro/courses/pm-101
  • Free and short course on the basics of the profession from the Stratoplan school: https://stratoplan-school.com/edu/pm-101/
  • Fundamental project management course: https://selihovkin.com/p/pmp-exam-prep

Books :
  1. Boris Volfson - "Agile development methodologies". Comment: Briefly and to the point about the main agile development methodologies.

  3. Jeff Sutherland - SCRUM. A revolutionary method of project management.
  4. Maxim Batyrev - “45 manager tattoos”.
  5. Sarycheva, Ilyakhov - “New rules for business correspondence”.
  6. Boris Spirit - “Desperate account managers” (except for the part about characters). Comment: If you work in an outsourcing organization. helps to understand how to act with the client
  7. David Allen - GTD (Getting Things Done). "How to get things in order." Comment: a classic, many criticize, but if you are far from time management, it will help to structure at least somehow.
  8. C. J. Scott. - “Zero in Inbox”. Comment: Warmly recommend the Zero Inbox approach to mail management
  9. Jim Camp - First Say No.
  10. Gavin Kennedy - “Everything can be negotiated! How to get the most out of any negotiation.
  11. Tom DeMarco - Deadline. A novel about project management.

  2. Kanban ( habr )
  3. Waterfall, cascade ( wiki , third )

Courses never guarantee quality, let alone employment. And 100% information can only be obtained in the process of work, and even then not all ...
this applies to any specialty
