Is it possible to add custom colors when designing for an android app?

Good afternoon. I know that for some this question may seem silly, but still.
Yes, yes, good old Google knowingly gave us all a material guideline. There is a ready-made color scheme indicating the required colors and shades. But, for example, I, as a designer, was attracted by a completely different color. Can I use it? The background color is #212531.

Material guidline - рекомендации, не более. Для вас важнее чтобы пользователю нравилось, а не гуглу. Посмотрите приложения с баджем Editor's Choice - там львиная доля не придерживается гайдлайнов.
