Is it possible to access the audio interface (firewire) through the network?

There was a need to connect an external firewire audio interface (focusrite saffire pro 24) to an Acer laptop (on board Win 10 and OSX 10.10) to play / record multi-channel audio, but there are no data transfer interfaces other than usb 3.0 and Ethernet, but there are two old mac mini: (G4/1.5 with osx 10.5) and (Core 2 Duo 1.83 with osx 10.7), hence the question: Is it possible to connect to mac mini via network connection and get full access to saffire pro, and is there any difference which mini-to use for this?

I settled on the VST plugin Wormhole2 copes with the task, the delay is minimal.

Buy a firewire to usb adapter
