Is it possible to access javascript variables from jade on codepen.io?

I didn't use jade before, I really liked the compact syntax.
Is it possible to access javascript variables on codepen.io using jade?
In all the examples that I have found, the variables are written directly in the html
. Can I get variables from the js section?
