You write the distribution kit to a USB flash drive, make a backup of all important data in the system, boot from the USB flash drive, go to Gparted and expand the partition. You are waiting a lot. I did it, it went well, but it's better with a backup.

You cannot expand the root partition you booted from. Boot from Live and use GParted from there.

Easily expandable, even from the main OS. Either manually via fdisk or via gparted
