Is it possible for a tracer to evolve to an embedder?
Such a strange situation, I am a PCB tracer and have been working as a tracer for two years now. That is, they give me a schematic and I draw components with 3D models, trace, prepare documentation, organize production (as a larva of a logistician and a freelancer). I really like it and I'm good at tracing, BUT I don't know circuitry at all (except maybe the basic things that are critical for tracing). It's funny, but even so you can live. It's just that tracers are rarely needed, give everyone a universal soldier. How is it actually worth approaching the study of circuitry in general, so that these concepts are already linked with existing ones? In addition, you start reading and go into the jungle of details more and more, but it doesn’t stay in your head at all.
I used to have a kind of mentor at work who explained clearly and could repeat 100,500 times until I understood, but our paths diverged. I really want to be able to READ schematics, look at the device and understand how it works. But without any specific plan, it all seems like a very vast dream.
I would be grateful for advice.

Easyelectronics through and through, several times. Three or four independent projects on the controller. Order of study Digital -> power -> analogue.
Get yourself a stand with a supply of parts and measurements.
Read descriptions of circuits - can be found in old magazines and forums.
And then a hill with a chorus.
If you already know what the main elements on a circuit do (resistors, capacitors, transistors, inductors), try drawing simple circuits in your design environment and run simulation of how the circuit works. I do not know what you are working in, but, for sure, there is this mode. After the launch, it will be possible to see how the signal changes at each point in the circuit. Well, then, figure out why it took on this form and what will happen if this or that element is replaced with another denomination or even another one :).
You can find circuits on the Internet for every taste, I would start with the simplest power supply. Half wave, bridge, etc. Then I would take a closer look at transistors and simple devices based on them (amplifiers, frequency generators, etc.)
