Is it possible and how to share a DFS root via WebDAV on a standalone IIS server?
Is it possible to "Share" a DFS root via WebDAV (not a specific DFS folder, but the whole root), so that the WebDAV server is not a DFS server, with support for NTLM authorization? Has anyone done similar?

Can. You need to map the DFS root to IIS and publish it via WebDAV. Yes, it is possible with authorization there will be a crutch in the form - everyone works under the same account. Although it may be possible to get transparent authorization to work.
Did I understand correctly that you are making a webdava public with high availability? if yes, then it is better to look at the implementations of rsynch and apache, everything is more reliable there. But this is IMHO.
