Is it normal to store a customer base on hosting?

Hello. Maybe someone came across ...
On hosting (simple, virtual) we store about 500 tons of companies (only details) with the names of employees we work with (including phone and mail).
The site is closed, internal. Login: Password. https protocol.
I tried to deal with the law on the storage of personal data, but did not find the answer to my question there.
Is it even possible to store information like this?

If you want to share with the hoster, it's fine :)
("Yes, we have encryption ...", "Yes, we have a hoster ...", "Yes, we have gas in our apartment ..." - no need :) Google also beat itself in the chest with the heel of the left hind leg - and quietly changed the user agreement and began to erase files of certain content. It was a year ago (article in English)
