Is it necessary to divide modern HDDs into logical drives?

Good afternoon.
The question is in the title. HDD Seagate ST1000DM003 I use for data.

Preferably for disks with use-case: system+data.
And if the disks are used to store data, then you can not break it. At the very 3 HDD for data - all contain one partition each.

Such small ones are not necessary. And with disks larger than 2 TB, problems can arise. I somehow failed to put Windows on a single partition of a 3 terabyte disk, although I may not have checked all the options.
