Is it necessary for a programmer to work in a team for development?
Hello! A question. I work freelancing - mostly websites, often on frameworks, but not very complex. I constantly study for free and for free, I learn something new. I also have my own business card website, where I position myself as a programmer. Applications often come through this site, but often those that I, as a programmer, are not able to fulfill at the moment (lack of knowledge). In this regard, the question arose: is it possible to freelance (never working as a programmer in the office) to upgrade enough to carry out serious projects or complex functionality for existing ones? Or, without working in the office, it will not be possible for the team to move to a new level for themselves and become a serious specialist? Simply put, to what level can a self-taught programmer pump?

You can level up, it's a matter of time and mindset, but as for me, it's better (already having a certain base) to go to work as a junior in a team and the tougher the mentors are, the better :)
PS nothing prevents you from finding like-minded people and organizing teamwork outside the office.
The main desire! :)
What is included in the development of the site:
If you can learn to perfection, become a GURU in all of the above, I applaud you. In fact, it will take you a huge amount of time to "perfect" study of this - several years to be exact. And after a few years, you realize that the development world has not stood still. And while you "learned" your knowledge is outdated.
Another point is development time. Any "serious" project is a business. Businesses don't like to wait. The sooner the project is delivered, the sooner the business will start making money. I think it is also clear here that one freelancer will not be able to resist the development team.
I hope I have answered your question.
A self-taught programmer on freelance will not be pumped far, because there are tasks of the same type. IMHO
