Is it legal to post someone else's photos this way?
Please tell me what is now considered legal when using other people's photos on the network. For example, I found a photo from a paid photo hosting on a jellyfish. I understand correctly that the jellyfish paid for the photo and publishes the name of the source just like that? (since the photo was paid for, it is not necessary to publish the source). There is no active link to photo hosting.

About three years ago, I needed to find out in detail the legality of posting photographic images of equipment taken by other people. And then a lot of questions arose - whose copyright or whose license is for this photo?
I consulted with lawyers for a long time.
As a result, I came to a simple and obvious conclusion - if you live in "RU", then there is no legal concept.
I was convinced of this personally, when considering my claim. An absolutely absurd and illegal decision was made.
Total what we have.
Legal or not - it is not a lawyer who decides, based on laws and practice - as in civilized countries, but a judge.
As he pleases, so he decides. And he will bring his decision under the law in 5 minutes. Such is the reality.
And the judges in these your Internets do not rummage much. From the word at all.
Listen to good advice - do not seek the truth and the law. Yourself is more expensive.
Do you want to post a photo/project on your site? Buy hosting abroad, the name is there and post any information freely, without thinking about what is now legal and what is not.
There will be no lawsuits, no claims, no questions. Freedom of speech.

The issue of legality and copyright, 10 years ago, was considered by Theme Lebedev.
Legal - follow the letter of the license under which a particular photo is published or purchased by you. There are no "general principles"; these are common myths and fantasies. For example, it is complete nonsense that if you find a photo on the net, it is enough to place a link to the source and the name of the author under the photo so that everything is clear from a legal point of view. The concept of Fair use is American, it has nothing to do with Russia. Read the license if there is one. If not, don't post the image.
Yes, in Russia you can be convicted for anything. But if you're using a photo under their license and someone wants to "shut down" you, a copyright infringement suit is probably the last thing you'll run into. It also does not mean that if you violate licenses, no one will care about you.
