Is it important for a developer to know ITIL?
Good afternoon,
I have been working in IT for quite a long time (6-7 years), now I hold the role of Senior Software Developer and plan to develop towards Teach/Team Lead. Is knowledge of ITIL relevant to me? How can it help me in this role? How can it help the Teach/Team Lead?
Thanks in advance!

It strongly depends on the company and where you are going to grow. It’s better to ask there :)
Absolutely all the team leaders that I saw became team leaders, not because they learned some list of basewords, but because they had sufficient authority for this (the threshold is actually not high - you don’t need to be the coolest) and in the right took the initiative and took responsibility.
Not a single one was appointed as a team leader for some formal reason.
This does not mean that this (growth in team leads on formalities) does not happen - it just means that I have not seen this. Perhaps it was just that the companies I worked for lacked bureaucracy.
Well, expanding your horizons by understanding the next methodology / approach is always a plus if you have the time and resources for this.
