Is it enough to boot from a flash drive when replacing a hard drive with an imac?

I plan to replace the hard disk with a new one (ssd)
I see that there are three partitions EFI (209.7 MB), Recovery HD (650 MB), Macintosh HD
Will a bootable flash drive with macos be enough or something more complicated?
