Is it better to learn to perceive English speech by ear using simple or complex recordings?

Modern Russian online English courses such as Nadezhda Schastlivaya, Diana Semenycheva take quite complex texts, which from the first listening and in general the second and third can be understood at best by 5%. After they do a full analysis and offer to listen to the analyzed material many times. All textbooks of the Headway type go from elementary texts at the Elementary level to complex texts at the Advanced level. And if you took a textbook of your level, you will understand the audio recording by at least 70% from the third time. I have a question, how to learn more efficiently from simple audio, understanding 70% or from complex audio without understanding - nothing.

Any process of training and learning is effective only when it has a "reliance" on already familiar material or existing skills. If the unknown unconditionally prevails over the known, the learner is usually lost. The proportion of the unknown and the known is an individual matter, but, as a rule, the known should still prevail.
And home-grown courses, as always, are nothing special and are not worth attention, also regardless of the subject of teaching.
