Is ECC critical for a typical SQL+1C server?
There is a regular server on which Server 2012 R2, MS SQL 2012 and 1C live on two chipset RAID1 + 1 SSDs. All this has been working for almost a year, no problems have been noticed. There are 5 databases in SQL with an average of 15 GB each, about 40 users work with them. For a typewriter, never a highload.
But one thought haunts me. I got the machine from my neighbors, and it has 32 GB of regular DDR3 memory, not ECC. And like ah-ah-ah, we urgently need to change, but on the other hand, is it necessary? Uptime year, all is well.
And here's a question, I wanted to know your opinion. How critical is the lack of ECC in a regular database server, not hung with caches, without ZFS, without a hardware controller, without a ton of users, etc.
Thanks :)
