Is Domain Registration a Dark Business?

Добрый день!
Год назад решил заняться изучением front-end разработки. Настроил дроплет на digitalocean, начал экспериментировать и в определенный момент настало время купить несколько доменов. Изучив рынок остановил свой выбор на reg.ru. Регистратор, а не реселлер, домен ru всего 199. Как здорово подумал я, зачем связываться с непонятными конторами и покупать домен у них за 99 рублей, когда у регистратора несильно дороже. Но я допустил ошибку и не учел цену продления(как я позже узнал, почти все крупные фирмы ее скрывают). Не знаю почему, но я полагал, что цена продления также будет равна 199. Какого же было моё удивление, когда reg.ru запросил за продление 3х доменов со скрытием персональных данных почти 3000 рублей.
Собственно вопрос:
Хочу перенести домен кому-то из ресселеров или партнеров крупных регистраторов. Но настораживает надежность таких компаний. Не хочется непонятно куда отправлять скан своего паспорта и прочие персональные данные. Да и сохранность домена тоже вызывает опасение.

Также сильно задумался о переходе к западным регистраторам, но как понял все ненавидят godaddy.

As ru-tld.com proudly reports, they have an agreement with RUTSENTR. You can work directly with the RUTSENTR itself - it certainly doesn’t hide any prices - it always paints to insanity how much money it will take from you for that service, for this service ... I bought domains for myself there, sent a scan of the passport. The interface is simple, but I don't need whistles and tweeters.

There was the same case with reg.
Transferred to one of its partners offerhost.ru
Purchase and renewal in the RU zone - 95 rubles.
I sent the application and a scan of the passport, after 10 days the transfer was carried out.
I also took hosting - for small projects, that's it.
Right now, they seem to have made an action on hosting (there was a mailing list), but I don’t need it, because. The price is already arranged ... I paid immediately for a year.
About 2 months since I transferred some projects - the flight is normal.
For myself, I decided for now that I will shove small projects there ... well, if they don’t screw up)))

I have been using 2domains.ru for several years now - no complications so far. Tariffs here 2domains.ru/price.php
As for passport data, I think it's too late to worry. If you think about it, the security of reg.ru should not differ much from that of its resellers. I strongly doubt that reg.ru conducts a security audit of its resellers...

I have been using nic.ru for
15 years (they used to be called differently). The flight is normal.
