Is C# used more for game or application development?

Hello. I am a student. No programming experience. In pairs, we superficially study different programming languages and various areas of programming. I decided that I wanted to write programs for Windows, etc. The teacher said that C ++ is difficult for beginners and recommended starting with C #. On the Internet, I saw that people are mainly interested in this language in order to develop games in the future. I found little about writing programs in this language. The question is, should C# be used to write programs for Windows (mainly) and other platforms (I read that you can write on it for other platforms too) or choose something else?

WPF (Windows Presentation Foundation)
UWP (Universal Windows Platform)
ASP.NET Core (in general)
ASP.NET Core Blazor
ASP.NET Core MVC
ML.NET
Unity
I'm not including any Entity Framework Core and similar technologies in this list. There is more to add to the list.
It is enough to look at vacancies on different sites. Basically, in my subjective opinion, these are ASP.NET and all sorts of other console utilities that work as servers. It is clear that all of the above technologies are used too. At my job, C# is used for the UI of the application, for a couple of servers and for machine learning (in different departments) and a lot of other things in different languages.
You can write applications for all popular operating systems (Linux, MacOS, Windows)
