iPad as a reader for a programmer
A few months ago, I was thinking about getting an Amazon Kindle to read technical books. This was mainly due to the high price of books. Having turned over a bunch of reviews, I realized that reading pdfs with code on Kindle is not very convenient. Therefore, the purchase was postponed. But… with the release of the iPad 2, prices for first-generation devices dropped. What do you think, dear fellow developers, is the iPad convenient for the task at hand or is it worth looking for alternative solutions?

I think the Ipad is by definition a good reader, especially for pdf because it is easy to scale, fast file processing (compared to other readers), high resolution, the ability to follow links and finally the backlight of the screen. Yes, and in itself a convenient tool for work and entertainment.
Hmm, but I'm still suffering with the usual Kindle 3 - I have to read books in landscape position, otherwise it's very small :(
If there are no problems with reading from ordinary screens, then it will be convenient.
My eyes are much less tired when reading pdf and djvu from a 5-inch eink than from a monitor / tablet / phone.
The main disadvantage is weight. Everything else is almost perfect. For pdf something better is not easy to find.
Awesome, + 100500 other useful functions, it is necessary to take the current with a 3g module.
Best of what I've seen for PDF reading:
scaling, fast opening of scanned/recognized files, support for many other formats.
For not just reading, but for working with files, there are also programs for taking notes, highlighting individual parts of text, and other things ...
On the topic of weight: how much does a separate average book on programming weigh? ;)
On the subject of 3G - not often where it is said that the version with 3G has a small but nice bonus in the form of GPS, which is not in the Wi-Fi version. And it's convenient to watch a scalable map with location marks in a foreign city on a big screen.
And I’ll add, the iPad is convenient for reading to use in transport, in line, etc. In other words, where there are problems with lighting => reading from paper / e-ink will be problematic.
Mega comfortable! I generally forgot paper literature. Don't forget 3G!
