Intermediate literature?

Hello!
My task is to help a person understand the principles of computer operation well. But I, unfortunately, do not know the relevant literature. This person is not a professional programmer, so, say, "Computer Architecture" by Tanenbaum will not work. But he is able to understand quite complex material, so, of course, you need a level more serious than the “Computer for a Dummies”.
Perhaps the problem seems small, but I think that if there is a successful literature that meets such criteria, it will be useful information for those who work in the IT industry, but are not programmers: managers, software implementation specialists and other specialists in this field. directions.

I read it myself, while there was no computer: Figurnov V.E. "IBM PC for the user". I think it's a very good book.
Maybe there are newer editions or in a similar style.

Thank you! I think "Code" is more suitable, I will recommend this book. But if there are other interesting options, it would be interesting to know.
