Interface freezes in Ubuntu 11.10?
I sat on version 10.10 and did not know grief. I set up the themes, tweaked everything else, but it hit me to upgrade ... It was updated in 2 stages - first to 11.04, then to 11.10 and in general everything is fine, the main bugs were corrected except for one.
It slows down the interface on the usual unity, which is 3d. It looks like this: the context menu (with the right key) when I call it, a transparent block with shadows appears, blunts for 2 seconds and shows the menu. Or when you press Alt + Tab to switch the window, you also wait 2 seconds until the new window appears. It seems like a trifle, but it's wildly unnerving when it's almost always like that. Repeats with the context menu every 4-5 clicks in a row.
Reset to default compiz settings, did not help. Everything works well at work. Even in the gnome and in the unit without 3d, there are also no such problems, or they are simply not noticeable.
The driver also changed different ones, but so far there is no result.
Who can faced such hogwash?
Memory: 2.7 GiB
Processor: Intel® Pentium® D CPU 2.80GHz × 2
Graphics: GeForce 7050 / nForce 610i/PCI/SSE2
OS type: 32-bit
and terabyte disk

There was something similar. The complete removal of all video card drivers and the installation of proprietary drivers from the Nvidia website (and beta) helped.
Most likely the video driver. Well, almost zero ability to use the capabilities of the video card in mutter affects. debian.pro/614#comment-9039 read this.
