Installing Windows 10 on a blank disk using the key from Windows 8.1. So it is possible?
Good afternoon colleagues!
I have a key for a licensed copy of Windows 8.1 (obtained from BizSpark), can I install from a clean Windows 10 by feeding it to the installer (no backup updates, clean install from USB or DVD)? I couldn't find an answer to this question right away, maybe someone better than me can google it. In theory, updates should be given to everyone, but how to update the license if I just install the system?

Read carefully www.microsoft.com/ru-ru/windows/windows-10-faq?oci...
As I understand it, until July 29, 2016, you can install Win 7 (8.1) clean, activate, upgrade to Win10. At any time after installing Win10, you can make a bootable recovery flash drive.
Then at any time (and after July 29, 2016) on the same computer, you can install Win 10 clean from this media.
If I'm not mistaken, you are only given the opportunity to upgrade to 10ki for free. The following installations and a clean installation should take place with a key for windows 10, and not with a key for upgrading to windows 10.
Of course no.
You have a Windows 8.1 key, so you can only activate Windows 8.1 with this key.
You can upgrade from Windows 8.1 to Windows 10.
Also interested in this question. As far as I know, if you update the installed OS (license) to ten, then the subsequent clean installation of ten will be possible with the key of the previous OS, unless of course I understand correctly. I also did not find any information about a clean installation of dozens with the key of an unupdated other version of Windows.
