Installing Ubuntu 11.04 on VMWare 6?

They recently brought me an Asus laptop with a preinstalled subject to install Win7 there. Before demolishing, I climbed on this OS and was very pleased with the appearance of the desktop. I downloaded the DVD image of the latest version and now I want to put it on VMWare for a closer acquaintance. However, I can’t install: the automatic installation takes about 10 minutes (in console mode, although screenshots from the Internet show a graphical setup). Then reboot, VM says to wait, there is some kind of quick installation and that's it. Tried several times - sometimes just a black screen, sometimes it comes to the console. I know that there are a lot of Linux specialists on Habré, can you tell me what to do? The Internet mentions a similar problem, but I did not find a solution. It is advised to look for a ready-made image for the VM.

Windows 7 Ultimate (x64)
VM Ware 6.0

I prefer to take images from the official site .
By subject. When installing Ubuntu in VMWare, you are first prompted to enter all the basic parameters, and then see the automatic installation in text mode. And it's not an Ubuntu feature, it's a VMWare feature. I would recommend that you install the system in a VirtualBox environment .

Better use VirtualBox, but be aware that due to the lack of 3D acceleration in a virtual environment, Ubuntu will not work as well. Maybe you should put it as a second system?

As I understood from here:
www.vmware.com/resources/compatibility/search.php
support for Ubuntu Desktop 11.04 x64 as a guest system appeared in VMWave starting from version 7.1
