Influence of a domain zone on SEO for IM: ru or shop?

Hello. I know that if you choose from popular zones, then there is no difference for seo and it doesn’t affect the search results in any way, but how are things now (for 2019) with unpopular zones, such as shop, if we are talking about an online store? What are the prospects for this thematic area at the moment?
I plan to make a 301 redirect from sitename.ru to sitename.shop. Also on Instagram, the company is called name.shop (the page is not promoted, but still), i.е. I want to create some kind of micro ecosystem: Instagram name == site domain.
I tried to find information on the Internet, but the latest topics date back 2 years ago, which is an eternity for the evolution of search engines with a bunch of changes.
Thanks in advance.

There is, in my opinion, the most influential office that is engaged in research on ranking factors, this is moz
and they have an article on this topic:
https://moz.com/learn/seo/cctlds
which says, among other things, the following:

Why ccTLDs matter
Important in international SEO, ccTLDs are the single strongest way to show search engines and users that site content is specifically targeted to a certain country or region — but, importantly, NOT specifically a certain language. When a site uses a ccTLD, Google assumes that site (and all the content on it) is specifically relevant to the geographic area targeted by the ccTLD and should appear on SERPs in that area.

The domain only affects the user and not the search engine
And the user can already influence the search engine
