Increase the volume of RAID-10. Is it possible to?
Hello colleagues!
There is a RAID-10 of 4 trains of 250 GB. There is not enough space and an increase in disk space by ~ 3 TB is required. The question arises. How, without much downtime and the possibility of losing data (let's say that I read about backup somewhere), is it possible, and is it possible, to increase the volume of the array to the specified volume?
PS: There is no way to connect more than 4 disks; it is planned to replace all existing hard.

An increase in volume by about 3TB is the installation of 4x 2TB disks (well, maybe 1.5TB), so the first step is to make sure that the controller supports these disks.
What controller model?
Is there hot-swap support (drives in a sled)?
If the controller supports disks and hot-swap disks, then you can change disks one at a time while waiting for the rebuild. The pleasure is doubtful, but on 250GB disks it is tolerable.
If the disks are not hot-swappable, then the best way is through backup / restore (however, this is the least risky way anyway).
The surest option:
1) Copy all the data to a separate medium.
2) Create raid10 of the required size on new disks.
3) Pour everything back =)
If it is possible to clone the entire system over the network to another server, and then simply rearrange the screws.
