In which large companies can I get a job as a JAVA programmer, and how?

Do you need a diploma from some cool university for this, or do they take self-taught people too? I am finishing my English, and someday it would be cool to work in serious companies. You should not be very specific in the answer, in general terms for a couple of lines, since I am still far from JAVA

Look at the diploma, work experience. They pass through a lie detector (in offices, approximate or out of the organs). They pass through the interview.
Worked. From 3 months to 6 years.
Throw out at the signal of the western controller. In some moment. Because your entire department/department needs cost optimization (sequestration).
Soulless atmosphere. Managing people, not processes. Time control, not results. For the goal is profit, not a solution.
