In what software for home automation to make a universal remote control?
Faced the following problem. I want to manage my equipment in one place. Trite, there is a TV with an AV receiver connected to it, with the rest of the equipment connected to the receiver, like a game console or a video player. To steer all this, you need to turn at least 3-4 remote controls in your hands, which is inconvenient.
I already use the Logitech Harmony One universal remote in one room. It is formally outdated, it can only control devices with infrared remote controls, and the number of actions is limited. There are newer remotes in the Harmony family, but somehow the prices there are far from democratic, and the closeness of the platform is depressing.
I would like to steer the equipment from one device, for example, from a tablet with Android or Windows. I reviewed a number of universal remotes for Android, usually everything again rests on closedness, including the difficulty of adding new commands, all sorts of additional requirements for the device, such as the mandatory presence of an infrared port, etc.
I looked at OpenHAB, it's certainly cool, but the universal remote control from it, as I understand it, will not work. In order not to switch between programs, but to use the approach, all elements are immediately on the screen, but depending on the situation they control another device. In an extreme case, it might be tempting to launch the remote control program directly from there.
I have a server on x86, I can put anything there. I have a couple of generic zmotes. There are tablets and phones on Android, there are tablets on Windows. Any advice on what can be done about this?
