In what language to write the collection and processing of data from the web?

To make your own life easier, you need a couple of softins that will access sites, receive some parameters and process according to my algorithms.
And at the same time there is a desire to learn how to code more seriously on something. From the experience of playing with pascal, delphi, c ++ builder, xcode, now I'm picking a little web development.
In the direction of which language is it better to dig?

Anyone that has sufficient Internet support. On Delphi, I would try using Indy (there is no good cURL binding to Delphi; I'm trying to fix it, but it's not going fast).
