Imac freezes when importing files to fcpx, no free memory?

Tell me, on imac 2019, when importing files, the Machintosh Hd (120 ssd) disk and 40GB of RAM overflow. And this is when loading 5-10 GB of the original maximum. Although the Library itself was created on an external ssd-2000GB and connected via tenterbolt 3. According to this scheme, macbookpro 2012 works without problems. Mac os Catalina & FCPX 10.4.7.
