If you drill a hole in the core of a transformer, do you get a solenoid?

You need a solenoid, only a transformer is at hand. Will these manipulations help? Or is it worth rewinding?

For the solenoid, the author took a piece from a telescopic radio antenna. Two washers are the right size. The rod is an ordinary nail 609ba31a5af86358394550.jpeg

. It's just not clear what you're doing, maybe ordinary iron will suit you, or maybe just a ferite rod.

Yes, but winding the wire around the tube with your hands will be much more efficient. Any idiot can do it.
