Water in display. Is it dangerous to leave it there?

As a result of the upgrade of the phone, water got into the display. Everything functions normally, I removed excess water outside the display.
The upgrade is an attempt to make the phone waterproof by sealing all the cracks with sealant. Well, I did it, but I didn’t keep track of the fact that there is a gap between the earpiece and the base, through which water safely flowed into the display. Symptoms appeared after a couple of hours.
Water gradually fills the entire surface of the display (presumably in one of the layers).

First. WHY? Second - quickly, I would say RUN to rip off the display until this miracle spills holy water on the motherboard and drives out all the demons from there.
