If you connect headphones to the jack on the speaker, then the sound quality is good. Why is the sound much worse when connected to the connector on the back of the system unit?
Motherboard - P8B75-M LX PLUS. When buying a computer, it turned out that in front of the system unit there are no connectors for connecting a microphone and headphones. Therefore, all my life I connected headphones through the connector on the speaker, it’s more convenient for me than to climb behind the system unit and stick the plug in the back of the system unit. The sound quality with this connection is good. Now I want to make it so that you can stick headphones in front of the system unit. I decided to test the headphones by plugging them into the connector at the back of the system unit - the sound is disgusting, somehow muffled, as if from a pipe. I checked on different headphones, everywhere the sound is bad. Why is this happening? Sound drivers are up to date.

Perhaps the speakers and headphones differ in the quality of the cable and the plug.
At the back of the case, a thin headphone cable can be noticeably affected by magnetic interference from the power supply or something else. From above, the source of interference is already far from the speakers, and the headphones connect better?
Are you sure you plugged it in? Missed the subwoofer jack? You need a green connector.
1. In the drivers (mixer) there are settings for speakers 2 + 1, 4 + 1 and just headphones. Play around with this.
2. Disable sound effects in the utility / drivers.
3. Disable - "line input"
