IBM ThinkPad R51 DVDROM/CDRW Teac DW-225 keeps unmounting, how to fix?
A friend asked me to bring back to life (only Winch died there, and the machine is excellent) IBM ThinkPad R51 laptop. Faced with an interesting problem, the Teac DW-225 combo drive works for a few seconds, then "falls off" either silently or with the notification "You can safely remove Teac DW-225" as if I gave the command to unmount it. As far as I could see, the problem manifests itself (and manifested itself on the old system before the death of the hard as well) only under full-fledged Windows XP - when booting from a LiveCD (WinPE Windows XP, "RusLiveFull") everything works fine for as long as you like, at the text stage of the installation Windows XP - too, and when the graphical installation stage begins, problems begin (you can notice if you add encodings that it wants to read from the CD at the language setup stage) and then they do not stop, you have to physically remove the CD from the computer because otherwise it is impossible to work - every few seconds you are told that the device can be removed. The fact that there are no problems under WinPE and during installation suggests that the problem is software, purely at the level of drivers or the plug&play kernel, and therefore there must be a cure. Please let me know if anyone knows or knows.
