I was forcibly connected to a password-protected wifi network, is this possible?

Good day to all! Maybe someone can explain what the hell happened. When I got to work, I picked up my iPad as usual and discovered something I hadn't seen before. The iPad was connected to a password-protected wifi network with a name like devil's corn, only in English. No one, including me, connected to this network and did not enter any passwords even more so. As soon as I clicked on "forget the network", it completely disappeared from view. There is a nuance, apparently, it was a connection to another Apple device with modem mode. On the one hand, nothing deadly hacker can be done from a poppy / ios, although who knows.

One friend suggested that it could be some kind of virus, but he is not the most knowledgeable on this topic. Maybe someone knows what it is, and whether it is cherevoto something?

Where does it follow that that network is password-protected?

If you left your device unattended, a lot of things could happen to it.
