I want to "feel" Arduino, how to start

Habravchane, I'm sure that many of you have tried such a thing as Arduino.

Actually I want to join and also try to do something interesting with this board.
And the final goal that I want to do is to control the lighting in the room using the terminal. Once I saw a video where a Linuxoid completely controlled his room using the console, but for now I just want to try just to “play around” with the lighting.

Is this possible for a beginner? And in general, throw good sites for studying this board.

I suggest you start by buying Arduino-compatible boards, they are much cheaper and don't mind if it doesn't work out. It is quite possible to solve your task, but there can be no talk about installing Linux on Arduino.
for example here
And here are compatible relays for the load: tyts
In my opinion, it would be nice to start by twisting standard examples - there are enough of them in the delivery, blinking diodes, studying the code ... It makes no sense to advise
sites IMHO, there are hundreds of them on request in Google, even on Habré find a lot of articles.

What is meant by lighting control? Turn on-off or also brightness control? How familiar are you with programming, C/C++ programming? How familiar are you with a soldering iron?
I wrote about some part of my “play around” here .
In addition, you need to understand that if you want to use exactly arduino, then you may need to organize the wiring in a special way: so that the board fits both the power supply and the buttons to the board, and even organize communication with the computer.

I recommend starting with a kit that has an Arduino and small things for assembling simple examples. As an option - Inventors Kit.

I propose not to start with arduino, but simply to study microcontrollers. Arduino is a platform in itself. Moreover, with modified C. It is better to immediately learn how to solder, make boards, draw circuits and Program in C.
It's better to start with STM8 - it's cheap, you can make your own programmer. Great opportunities.
on our site you can find all the information on microcontrollers, programmers, how to make boards. There is nothing complicated. But you will start right away in the right direction.
