HTML5 Mobile App Architecture

There is a need for a mobile application (and backend) with the following functionality:

  1. user registration / authorization
  2. displaying users on a map (google maps or similar) is not necessarily real-time
  3. check for new messages for the user on application startup based on their location
  4. it is desirable to be able to read the last 5-10 messages offline

  • Estimated number of users - 1000
  • Maximum simplicity and speed (no mimicry for a native application is needed) on different platforms (the main audience is smartphone users)
  • Even if there are analogues, you need your own application (written for yourself and friends)

Please advise whether it is worth using the framework (s), if so, which one; which is easier/better for the backend?
How would you advise to build an architecture in general for such an application? I understand that you can find a bunch of tools and manuals on the net, but it’s hard for a beginner to digest, I ask for advice from an experienced architect / developer.
What literature (possible in English) do you advise a very novice developer to read before such an undertaking (I apologize for the taftology)?

Thanks in advance.
