How well do search engines index single-page applications?

I am developing a project similar to afisha.ru, market.yandex.ru and similar projects, where the main goal of the site is content and easy search on it.
Application - rest-api + angular code, all routing on the client.
What problems might be encountered with this approach?
PS I understand that you can take phantomjs, or a wrapper and give search engines ready-made html. But I'm more interested in whether the search engines do it themselves or not.

UPD: I checked how Google indexes js - it does it strangely .
