How to write drivers for Android?

Actually, the question is precisely this. If Android does not support a particular device, how exactly are drivers written for it? Are these regular Linux kernel modules or are there some nuances?

At the kernel level, these are regular kernel modules.
I think if the driver is for some subsystem that is already used in android (screen, right? :)) this will all end.
