How to work with xml in javaEE?

I need to form an xml object (history of operations) based on user actions in my web application and save this structure to the postgresql database using jdbc. I couldn't find a well structured code example on this topic with explanations. Could you throw in a simple version so that I understand how it should look like and what classes to work with xml I need to learn?
