How to work with Apache on Ubuntu?

Hello!
I recently got a VPS on Ubuntu. Prior to this, there was no experience with the terminal, and with such servers, too. There is such a project. For it I installed java-pachage and groovy. Also I have installed some libraries and apache with mysql.
Where do I need to add the project files so that they are displayed when the site is opened? Now it just says "It works!".
And another question: please see the script repository on sourceforge. How to work with him?
You just need to copy it and open the site? Will everything work then?
Or does it need to be installed like other programs?
Thank you all for answering a bunch of questions :)
