How to work effectively all day long?

Hello everyone
At the age of 18, I was hired for the first time as a junior. I used to walk for 5-6 hours, waddling, but in the middle of the working day I started to swim, my head didn’t cook.
Now you need to work steadily for 8 hours a day.
Question: how do you cope with the working day? Maybe there are some tricks, methods, so that your head remains clear and you can work.
Any advice will do
Thanks
UPD: THANK YOU ALL FOR THE ANSWERS! VERY PLEASANT THAT MANY RESPONDED!

I am 20 years old, I live separately from my parents, I earn freelance. The most important thing is to organize your day.
In my case, I couldn't find a correlation between wake up time and productivity. But I can say for sure that for maximum performance I should get enough sleep and not feel hungry and thirsty.
I can’t offer you to turn off the alarm clock and wake up only when the body sees fit, alas ...
In my case, physical activity or a simple walk does not improve productivity, on the other hand, sticking to YouTube / VK or reading articles can reduce all efforts to 0.
Notifications about letters, messages ... calls ... In the case of work in the office, colleagues will distract you seriously. Feel free to send all nafig. Even the boss. The boss will thank you later when you complete all the tasks on time or even earlier.
8 hours of coding every day... Are you serious? This week my results are as follows: Sunday - 12 hours of coding, Monday - 8, Tuesday - 8, Wednesday - 6, Thursday - 4, Friday - 3, Saturday (today) - there is not the slightest desire, but I really need at least a couple of hours ... You'll just burn out. Tune in to 4, maximum 6 hours of coding per day. The rest of the time can be filled with reading documentation, working out prototypes on paper, discussions with colleagues and the boss.
If the situation requires 8-16 hours of coding in a row (this, alas, happens), then two things save me:
1) Series. A second monitor, a second PC, a tablet or even a smartphone will help you. Take the series that you have already watched and turn it on. It should be interesting, but already familiar, these are two mandatory requirements. So he will not distract from work (the plot is already familiar, and you can say half of the lines instead of the actors), but it will create the illusion of relaxation. In my case, everything can be reduced to this expression: 60 minutes of coding = 80 minutes of coding for the series. BUT! So I can withstand 12-16 hours without much effort. Which in the end gives more results than 6-8 hours of pure coding after which I'm just dead for a couple of days.
2) Caffeine.Regular caffeine. I don't drink coffee, and energy drinks are too expensive for regular use. There is a wonderful alternative - caffeine-sodium benzoate. ~ 30 rubles in a pharmacy for 6 tablets. The maximum single dose is 6 tablets, which is also 300 mg of caffeine. 1-2-3 tablets my body may not notice, and at six I start talking to myself. The line is very thin, but with the right dosage, a good performance boost is obtained. Attention! Caffeine can increase blood pressure and heart rate, and has a number of side effects. An overdose can kill. I am not responsible for the effects of caffeine intake.
A mixture of caffeine and a walk (winter, 3am, -20C) can generate a ton of brilliant ideas, alas, only 1 in a hundred has a chance of success in the real world.
In general, I have deduced an important regularity for myself. Motivation is bullshit. The desire to get more money and someday fly to the Maldives for a week will not lead to a result, sooner or later, but the brain will decide that it is much more correct to work 2 times less, but to relax on a local reservoir with friends and barbecue. Much more interesting is the situation with the feeling of compelled necessity. In other words, with a whip. I won't do the job and I'll be fired. I will not make it on time and I will be deprived of the bonus. I'll screw up and everyone will laugh at me... This works.
In order for the work to be given without effort, you need some kind of inspiration and a sense of pride in your work.I will make this project and thousands of people will use it! I will write this program and my girlfriend will be happy for me. This project will help start-up businessmen, they will never know my name, but they will be grateful to me.
Directly programming (as well as design) is easier if there is a plan and schemes. In my case, when working on the back-end, 70% of my time is spent on designing and working out the details on paper, only 30% of the time is the coding itself. When working with the front-end, I work somewhere 60-70% of the time, and design 30-40%. I understand that you are not forced to code for 8 hours. You are forced to sit at work for 8 hours. So estimate that only about 3-4 hours of them will be the coding itself. Although... If there is a lot of work, you are not the only coder in the office and there are more experienced ones who take on all the designing... wow... then all that remains is to monotonously knock on the clave...
Another very important point. BE SURE TO REST! On weekends, there should not be a single thought about work, after work, take up a hobby, clean your house, take a walk, go to the gym, read a book, watch a movie, sleep in the end. No work outside the workplace. This trick will make the brain associate the workplace with the work process, which means that it will no longer need to motivate it to work. It works extremely simply. If you see a very beautiful girl, and even without clothes, then something happens to one very important organ and the brain starts to work in a completely different way. And now your chair and your working computer come into view, the brain runs through the associations and understands that you need to work. Paired with a state of forced necessity, everything will work out with a bang.
Breaks are controversial. It’s easier for me to work, for example, 6 hours without breaks (only if I don’t go to the toilet or to the kitchen to pour water and steal a cookie) than 6-8 with breaks. I spend a lot of time and energy switching from one activity to another.
About food. At the moment of eating and eating, and for about the next hour, I am only able to read and look, but not create in any way.

You have to work 3-5 hours a day. In between, you need to chat with colleagues, check all sorts of sites of interest and air your brains in every possible way.

Try not to think about domestic problems, take breaks 1p in 1-2 hours, with not adequate people who like to pour water, discuss less, comrades who love to squat on their ears. In fact, everything just needs to work at work and, if possible, be closer to colleagues who do not cry and do not complain about how bad things are for them, etc., they will convey all the negativity to you.

You are undergoing a restructuring of the body to new conditions in life. A few ideas on how you can help yourself.
1. Healthy sleep, so as not to swim tomorrow, today you need to go to bed early. If you feel that your body goes out, go to bed at 11, in the morning you will be more cheerful.
2. Air, there should be a lot of it. If there is poor ventilation in the office, and even clogged windows when the air conditioner is on, then you are swimming purely physiologically, you need to ventilate and so on.
3. Constant focusing of the eyes on one object gives additional fatigue and tension, so you need to give yourself breaks from looking at the monitor. Usually they recommend 5-10 minutes per hour, but here you can look for Sanpin recommendations, they weren’t just invented, and the rest is not switching to a contract or somewhere else, but a distraction from the computer. It is desirable that it was not a smoke break, as cigarettes also worsen health.
4. Proper nutrition, vitamins, drink more water.
5. Do not get hung up only in technical information, the brain needs to switch to something else. It is necessary to find time for obtaining any other information besides knowledge for work. when you find time for this is your personal business, someone, as the commenter wrote above, implements it through chatter at work, someone finds time for themselves during breaks, someone outside of work. In any case, you can not go in cycles. Otherwise, the work will start to burn you. (I’ll add right away, this is not a call to treat work mediocrely).
6. In addition, you can use the support of medicine, there is a good drug called mildronate, its task is to support and restore the body, one of the indications for use is strong mental or physical stress. In order not to be too afraid of this item, I will say that these are pills that almost all of our athletes ate to help the body cope with the high loads that they put on it.
As for the rest, after a while you will adapt and this question will stop bothering you. Good luck.

What does it mean to "work steadily eight hours a day"? And lunch, and chatik to read? I started to read the python doc at work. Isn't it possible?
The boss wants exactly eight hours, or even more? I once said to this - go n @ x. For nefig borzet.
And only juniors work for eight hours, and even then for the first six months.

This is always the case when moving to a full-time job. Absolutely everyone (according to my experience) after the university, when switching to an 8-hour working day in the middle of the day, they begin to get stupid, fall asleep, etc. After lunch, productivity for this category already decreases. It rises in the evening.
Here I can advise:
1) Healthy indifference. Drowsiness and inhibition can be caused by overload, as there is more information, and the brain has not adapted. Healthy indifference - saves resources on worries about "what a dumbass I am", which consume scarce energy. For example, freedivers have one of the key skills - well, to think, since the brain devours an infernal amount of energy.
2) Pharma. The simplest is aspirin C in horse doses, if there are no ulcers, gastritis and pancreatitis (well, etc., gastric affairs). It is not absorbed much, an overdose comes out with urine, but acidification invigorates and releases a number of enzymes that activate the body. It is best just closer to the middle of the day and drink.
3) When drowsiness sets in, if possible, it’s good to go for a walk for 15-20 minutes. You can structure lunch in such a way as to save a little time and spend it a little later / earlier on a walk.
4) Caffeinated nafig, especially instant coffee and especially red bulls, etc. There is little vigor, but the heart / kidneys are easy to load.
5) Get enough sleep. Go to bed so that you get up at 07:00 or earlier. Don't sit at the computer. But I don't always do that :)
6) Walks: get out of the house more often in your free time
7) Sprints: set aside 10-20 minutes when you work on a task and do not get distracted by anything. That's right at all. It helps a lot.
8) It’s not relevant for everyone (now there is some kind of healthy lifestyle epidemic), but evening alcohol in this situation hits “on the brain” very hard, which is already loaded to the very end.
9) Motivation. You need to find something interesting and meaningful for yourself in your work. Perhaps this last one is the most important.

It also makes sense to try task alternation to unload the brain. Periodically climb out from behind the computer, at this time concentrated thinking is turned off and abstract thinking is turned on, you do not think about the task, but it is solved - a very useful proven practice. And during concentrated thinking - turn on the tomato and do not get distracted anywhere, you will forget about time in principle. I think the maximum effective employment per day is 6 hours.

I have already said about the dream - I will not repeat it. Here, in the CIS, for some reason, going to a doctor, especially a psychologist, is humiliating for a man (tm). And don't be shy and go. To those who are recommended to you. Hand over analyses.
My friend from intel was also all sleepy at work, she just drove herself to do simple things. But she, fortunately, lives in Israel, so the medical examination for insurance revealed that she had anemia.
For some reason, we all believe that feeling bad is normal, and that a man / animal must overcome this on willpower. But this only leads to the rejuvenation of diseases and early and short old age. Take care of yourself, and don't be afraid to go to the doctors. If you live in the middle of nowhere, take a vacation to a decent place and visit doctors there. be healthy

2-phase sleep, rejection of artificial energy drinks in any form (a glass of water with lemon and an apple invigorates just as well, just try it). Be sure to exercise (it gives energy more than it takes), quality rest during the week and regular sex, but not too often (30-60) minutes a day is enough. As a result, you will get a maximum of natural energy and a minimum of losses (do not watch TV, do not waste time on people who are unpleasant to you if possible, surf the Internet as little as possible * social networks, videos, etc.).

8 hours of work a day is slavery. If I work 5-6 hours a day on the tracker, then it was an unrealistically busy day, usually it takes 3-4 hours and that's fine.

Nikita Schipilov , take breaks, don't skip lunches. Get yourself a program like EyeLeo
or Workrave. During breaks - a light workout. It's best to get outside.
Get rid of the routine to the maximum, think about how to automate the process. And endurance will come by itself.
Before a working day, you need 6-8 hours of sleep, no less.

As already mentioned above, you need to get enough sleep before a working day and eat right, oddly enough. And at your age, many walk late, drink and eat nothing, no strength, exhaustion. And how to learn how to eat right and what to eat, how to observe the daily routine without problems, you can find out here force-man.ru/pitanie .

In order to have strength, there must be motivation, for the sake of what to do it, then there will also be a desire to do something. Get a girl, the motivation to work and earn money will immediately rise

To maintain greater efficiency, you need to do more often:
1) "oxygen" pauses,
2) take a nap for 15-20 minutes (equivalent to 2 hours of sleep)
3) take natural stimulants, among which the most recommended and useful is Chyawanprash . I emphasize, not energy, namely, soft herbal remedies.
